The proposed redevelopment of the largely abandoned North Corktown neighborhood of Detroit is our latest major urban regeneration project. We have been commissioned by a private philanthropist to apply modernist design principles to stabilize the 54-acre district. Thus, our master plan promotes affordable homeownership and emphasizes community interaction through creating pedestrian access to local services and interspersing housing with communal green spaces.
We are exploring modular construction options to create well-designed, subsidized affordable town houses and single-family homes that will appeal to working families. In addition, the neighborhood boasts a quality charter school, good public transportation links and close proximity to Detroit's fast-gentrifying downtown.
