Our thorough renovation of a mid-century home in the Hollywood Hills for a music industry executive gives a contemporary spin to architect Edward Fickett’s original design. We installed skylights and triangular clerestory windows below the sloping roof to introduce natural light and a sense of spaciousness. Interior partitions were removed to create an open-plan kitchen, living, and entertaining area as well as an expansive master suite. A floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door fully opens the main living space to the backyard with its pool and patio. The interior’s immaculate white walls are offset by warm accents of maple wood, grey granite, and textured fabrics with striking patterns. Fickett’s original fireplace with its cantilevered hearth was preserved and acts as a focal point in the open volume.
