Bell Works Chicagoland

Somerset Development, who renovated Bell Works, asked us to design an adaptive reuse of an empty office campus building outside of Chicago, in conjunction with Dirk Lohan of Whyte Architects and NPZ Interiors. This development replicates the success of Somerset’s adaptive reuse of the Bell Laboratories headquarters building in New Jersey into a mixed-use retail, commercial, and hospitality venue.

The 1.5 million-SF AT&T building was designed in the late 1980s. Our design simplifies its post-modern vernacular to enable interaction between the various use groups who will populate the development. The tenant mix comprises: 1.2 million SF of office space; 60,000 SF of retail and 80,000 SF of conference facilities.
