House on the Gulf of Mexico

Designed within the parameters of a highly restrictive building code, this beachfront cottage embraces the elemental power of the ocean and is a sanctuary for contemplation. Broad overhanging eaves and a large, open rear porch redefine Florida vernacular architecture through the prism of Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie style. Large exterior window panels in a rational grid were inspired by Japanese screens.
