Santa Fe Residence

Inspired by traditional desert adobe vernacular, this 8,000 square foot house includes gallery space for the resident’s art collection and features spectacular views looking down over Santa Fe. Atop a 12-acre ridge, pavilion structures frame these vistas in a sequence of terraces. These outdoor rooms cascade down from the house, terminating in a pool that seamlessly meets the distant horizon.

The house comprises two perpendicular axes; one wall defines the entry court and the other cuts through the ground plane, pointing downhill towards the horizon. A monumental entry stair leads to the main public areas of the house, which open in several directions. To one side is the double-height living room and dining room; to the other is a series of galleries, punctuated by the volumes of the library and master bedroom suite.
