United Nations Plaza Apartment

This renovation combines two adjacent apartments to create an expansive gallery for the contemporary art collection of S.I. and Victoria Newhouse. While the exterior of the building is Miesian, the interior of the existing apartment was bereft of rational order. To organize the interior spaces, new columns were added and existing ones extended—creating a grid that parallels that of the exterior mullion system. The deep piers at the window reflect of light into the room; along with bronze and sycamore radiator cabinets, these anchor the open, loft-like space of the rooms.
